Danceathon 2019

DANCE FOR WILLOW

On 2 May 2019 Ringwood School Performing Arts Students performed a six-hour Danceathon to raise money to help their fellow student, who sadly has double kidney failure.  The event was initiated and organised by the students with help from their teacher.

There were six hours of constant dancing of various styles, ranging from Ballet, Tap and Street to Jazz and Musical Theatre. It was an exciting opportunity for the students to showcase what they have been learning in the extra classes that are supported by the RSAF, and in their Performing Arts classes, whilst raising money to support their friend and give her the childhood she deserves.

The money raised will go to the Paediatric Nephrology Unit in Southampton Hospital. This amazing charity supports young people going through dialysis by giving them the best care and opportunities to be children. With the help of sponsorship, donations and activities, the students have raised over £2,050!

As well as the dancing, there were other activities including bingo, raffles and a photo booth as well as a tuck shop, a bar and a delicious buffet – one lucky person won the use of a very flash Ford Mustang for a day! The atmosphere at the event was amazing and all the people who came to watch were really supportive – some even had their chance to join in with a special hand jiving lesson!

We would like to thank everyone who contributed, donated, supported and watched this fabulous event – whether you were there in person or following the action on our Instagram and Facebook accounts.  We are truly proud of these students for giving up their time and energy to help a friend with so much joy and enthusiasm.  Well done to you all!
